Educational Benefits for Military Personnel & Family

Whether you’re active duty, guard, reservist, a veteran or spouse of an active member of the armed forces, you may qualify for special benefits that will pay for all or part of your Penn Foster education.

The Department of Defense and other government agencies have created these educational benefits to provide service members and their families with opportunities to further their education and training.

Penn Foster was the first distance education school to work with the military and has been providing the education programs to our military service men and women for almost 90 years.

Call our Penn Foster military support team at 800-230-7206 to learn more about these programs!

Here are some of the programs that may be available to you:

The Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES)
This is a Department of Defense organization designed to help service members earn a degree or certification while continuing to serve their country. All Penn Foster programs are affiliated with DANTES, which qualifies military personnel for tuition reimbursement.

Military Spouse Career Advancement Account Program (MyCAA)
Military spouses pay nothing for training that will prepare them for careers in allied health, education, business, and more. The MyCAA program provides financial assistance - up to $4000 - to spouses of active duty military members and spouses of activated Guard and Reserve service members (deployed for a year or more) for certification, licensure, education or training in careers in high-growth, high-demand occupations.

The Armed Forces Tuition Assistance (TAP)
The Armed Forces Tuition Assistance (TAP) Program is a benefit paid to eligible members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and the Coast Guard. Each service has the ability to pay up to 100% of the tuition expenses of its members who meet specific criteria for eligibility. Contact your Education Officer to see if you are eligible for tuition assistance.

Approved for Veterans Educational Benefits
Many Penn Foster programs are approved for veteran’s educational benefits. Reservists may also qualify for veterans educational benefits. If you think you may be eligible, check with your local or regional VA office.

Military Education Services
The Department of Defense provides all types of educational services for active and non-active military personnel and their families. Your benefit options may include: Military Tuition Assistance, GI Bill Top-up, GI Bill, Federal Financial Aid, and Scholarships and Grants.

Service Member Opportunity Colleges (SOC)
Penn Foster is a member of this consortium of colleges and universities that are dedicated to helping service members and their families with educational opportunities.
